At 89, legendary country music icon Willie Nelson continues to inspire generations with his unwavering dedication to his craft. However, earlier this year, Willie experienced a frightening health scare that nearly sidelined him from his relentless touring schedule. While on tour in May, Willie was forced to cancel his Jazz Fest Headlining Gig after a member of the Willie Nelson Family Band tested positive for COVID-19. It was soon revealed that Willie himself had contracted the virus.
A Frightening Night on the Tour Bus
Willie’s battle with COVID-19 began abruptly when he woke up in the middle of the night on his tour bus, struggling to breathe. His rapid PCR test confirmed the diagnosis, and given his age, Willie’s vulnerability made the situation even more critical. His wife, Anne Nelson, took immediate action to provide him with the best possible care.
Transforming Home into a Makeshift Hospital
Anne quickly set up a nebulizer on the tour bus and administered a range of treatments, including Paxlovid, monoclonal antibodies, and steroids, to combat the virus.
